On the road to Leigh
This photograph (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D9LaR2mXsAAwp0S.jpg) was reported by “thegamecaller” (https://twitter.com/TheGameCaller), while on his way to cover a Rugby league match. Heartbreaking.

This is a friend of ours, they posted on Facebook.

They don’t know what the cause is, but they were setting off on holiday pulling their tintent.

So sad, but the Defender was completely destroyed, they fortunately are both safe.

Cheers

Simon

If it was a Puma (and it is hard to tell), then looking at the location of the most intense area of conflagration in the first photo, I would be inclined to suggest that it may be the far-from-rare problem of the engine harness chafing through and earthing the main wire from battery to alternator (which is not fused).

Fortunately I caught mine just in the nick of time, but I would recommend that all Puma owners keep an eye on their engine harness.

Definitely not a Puma.

I haven’t seen him in a while, but judging by the other photo it’s an early TD5 or Tdi.

Cheers

Simon

Edit: actually, looking the location of the fuel filler in the first photo it’s (was...!) a TDi.

Good spot. Very sad, it looked in excellent condition.

Was it a galvanised chassis (the photo on the recovery wagon suggests this)?
