2.2 Clutch Replacement : Must I remove the dpf
Hi there.

I have a 2012 110 (2.2 version with DPF). Slave cylinder has gone, so box needs to come off (despite only 37k on clock and having had a new clutch under warranty at 18k). Plan to have the Ashcroft output shaft kit whilst doing this and a new clutch fix kit for good measure. Anyway, plan to do this on my drive using an engine crane through the front doors. Reading the manual it seems like the front pipe needs to come off, and this involves raising the engine in order to get it out.

Anyone have experience of changing the clutch on a 2.2 with DPF. Is it really necessary to remove the downpipe? Also, any good tips that might make the job easier are most welcome.

I haven't done a 2.2, but can confirm that the front pipe has to come off on a 2.4 so I have no doubt the same is true on the former.

Marks Landy, here you go, I wrote up my experience of changing the clutch (cos of a knackered slave cylinder) on the 2.2 with a DPF.

My spigot bearing had collapsed, so had to be changed. That was the only PITA. Some come out easy, so not so. Other than that, take your time and you will be fine. I bought an engine crane to do the job. Since I didn't lift the engine to remove the pdf, I would use a gearbox trolley if I did it again rather than an engine crane.
