Td5 Post 02 Rear Door Maintenance / Modifications
Hi all,

Keeping with my plan of action to see maintenance as an opportunity to replace / upgrade components a broken door latch and non functional 3rd brake light has meant I've had to strip the rear door.

I've replaced the wiring to the brake light and installed an Nakatanenga LED light from Brendan and ordered a new latch.

I've also sprayed the trim black (along with the other panels) due to showing it's age and have new clips / fasteners on order.

Door is in excellent condition with no rust and no cracks in it but the weight of the large wheel / tyre has always concerned me so am looking to install a swing away wheel carrier whilst the door is in bits.

Would members recommend installing a Nakatanenga door strut or would this be overkill with a swing away wheel carrier as I presume the strut helps with the weight of the wheel where the swing away wheel carrier alleviates this issue?

Are there any other maintenance jobs that you recommend be done or any parts checked before putting it all back together or are there any other upgrades / modifications that members have done which would be worth while doing at this stage?

Thanks

Nick
