Engine is a Series 1, you can just make out the sloping head, so from 54 to 58 assuming the steering column bracket is the correct one. Mind you it could be an early Series 2 which had the Series 1 engine at the start of production.

Good spot! As you say a 2 litre petrol, non-Siamese bore, so S1 86/88 or very early S2 .

That really is returning to the earth. It’s always amazing to watch the American shows like Roadkill where 1950s cars have been sitting abandoned in California or somewhere else dry and are started and driven with a little spray of starting fluid in the carb!!
