Will put money on it being broken wires in the rubber convoluted tube which runs from the a-pillar to the door.

Quick power test and no reading. Pulled the blue wire and hey presto! Click image to enlarge Just got to replace blue and red wires now. Defender Td5 XS90 |

Just a tip. As a precaution also change the other thick wire.
And do not Just connect the 2 pieces. Insertie a new piece of wire through the whole rubber tube. a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover |

Changed both wires and put back together except door card as waiting for a couple of fixings.
