Replacing Defender 2.2 Engine with a Ford 2.2 Engine
Has anybody on the forum actually replaced their puma 2.2 engine with a ford 2.2 engine?

I have to replace my 2012 110 HCPU’s Engine and the Stealers are really crazy with their quote! 2002 130 td5 Gameviewer

Not sure about delivery to South Africa but M&D engineering supplied me with a brand new L.R.spec. stripped engine a year ago.
They were by far the most reasonable in terms of price and were easy to deal with.

They could be worth a call.

Martin, now sure how feasible, but this looks like an excellent conversion!

I’ve test driven this conversion and can’t speak highly enough about it.

The 110 Defender I drove felt so car like, really quite quick (c 300bhp/300lb ft) and smooth. Also the steering felt responsive as the engine is light and pushed right back to the bulk head. Their test car also had the best spring/damper suspension set up i’ve tried. With the benefit of hindsight I would ditch my Alive Spring/Koni Dampers for the Fox dampers and springs they recommend. Again this really helped make the 110 feel more car like as it was so much more forgiving, especially over small surface imperfections.

If anyone is seriously considering an engine conversion then go and try it at JE. I haven’t made the leap yet as it’s still a big outlay and my 110 Puma has only done 35,000 miles. I also want to see the new Defender before I invest heavily in my car again.

Should a diesel city ban come into force or should I need an engine replacement then I would probably go that route. I’d be interested to know the crazy quote the dealership came up with?
