About to change the rear pair of UJs. Was searching for some grease, and most local hardware stores only sold cartridges for the grease gun that were bog-basic, no brand grease. The best synthetic or premium grease I could find was 3-in-1 Lithium grease, will this do? Or would the normal stuff be better? Or neither, and find online? Keen to get the work done asap. Today ideally, if 3-in1 or normal stuff will suffice....
Thoughts, as ever, welcome. ![]() I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

I always use this on both my Wolf & 2.2 UJ's...never had a problem.

Thanks FatCog, they seem to be much the same stuff. Looked at the recommended uses for the 3-in-1 and it seems suitable.

Any Lithium grease will do for that purpose.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Thanks Eric. Lithium it is.
Zed, I went for GKN/Hardy Spricer standard UJ with grease nipple. They don’t seem to do the HD version anymore, and most advice I got was this was as good as a replacement as you can get, avoiding the B***part offers. They arrived yesterday and look well made. Thanks mate, will do.
I was looking at those on Paddocks but got all in a muddle. I will persevere. Where did you get yours? |

No probs.
JGS4x4. Super quick and efficient. And were also where they gave me the most advice. ![]() https://www.jgs4x4.co.uk/land-rover-defend...-tvc100010 Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Excellent. Thanks for posting the link. Partswise it’s a bloomin’ minefield out there.

Pleasure. It is a minefield and for almost every part imaginable. Something I’m finding a lot, given just how much I’m replacing at the moment

I use Castrol lithium high temp from Opie oils.
Works well, mainly personal choice though. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___ ___\⭐️Lone|Star|State/___ ____\We|Will|Win/___ ____/🇬🇧🇺🇸\____ _//*⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰*\\_ |

Traditionally Castrol LM lithium-based high temperature grease was recommended for all wheel-bearings and all general-purpose nipple lubrication (and since I still have a stock it is what I still use).
Castrol in its infinite wisdom discontinued both the Castrol LM and Castrol CL greases, and replaced them both with the imaginatively-named Castrol High Temperature Grease, which is lithium based and looks, feels, and tastes exactly the same as LM ! Castrol CL grease was calcium based with good waterproof properties and was ideal for chassis lubrication etc. |
