Rear camera location. Sticky out Bracket idea needed?
Just installed a parking camera on my 110.
I’m impressed by the camera, but the view is somewhat useless.
View is obviously blocked by the water jet and wheel to within 3m of the rear. I wanted to see when I was near to crushing something and not when I was miles away.

I was thinking of extending the camera out a bit in a worklight bracket or the like and pointing it down a bit (lot) more.
Has anyone solved this issue with a cunning yet oem look accessory?
What have others done? Better than me..

This might be a stupid idea, but that camera looks small enough to mount on the end of the washer jet. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Not silly at all. I was thinking of this but if I wanted to stick it out a bit more as the spare tyre still gets in the way.

I was thinking I need to Clamp it into some kind of accessory I really ‘need’.
I was also thinking if a gutter mount to the side, but not sure on the clearance issue when opening the door.

Just wondered where people who have done the add in have installed theirs?

Could you mount it on the wheel/one of the wheel bolt holes?

I just got one and plan to mount it using a hole from the rear light/plate guard I removed...

Tried this and to be honest the view wasn't much better. Personal preference is i want to see the rear quarters so up high and out a bit is my ideal view. I can see big things in the mirror. I wast wanted to see I didn't crunch things when parking
I just dont want to extend it our on a tube /washer type idea. It'll look a bit stupid on a stalk. Maybe...

A common location is on the underside of the plastic plinth for the number plate light. That way, it can see under the spare and can be angled to give a reasonable view of the tow hitch.

If you really want it up at roof level, then off to one side will again give a better view around the spare. Darren

Mine is on a 3d printed. Magnetic box so you can move it around when you need to hook up the trailer

Might work

Ive recently seen a mount that attaches via the spare wheel studs, looked pretty smart but can't remember where I've seen it now. Will try and find it for you. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

Far Corners do a bracket that fits behind the number plate that can take a mounting for a camera or work light/reverse light. Don’t know what it’s like as I made a bracket that sits directly above the towing bracket so I can position a tow ball directly under a coupling. Will take photos tomorrow and show them.

I love this forum, so many ideas and assistance.
What about trimming the spikes off this and mounting with a decent adhesive?
Might look like a wierd spoiler!

Roy, I like that solution in the spare.... very neat. Cable routing into rear door can be hidden too...

I'll find out what the exact camera is and let you know. It's image quality and field of view is amazing though for such a small thing.

I did remember seeing a post a while back with someone having the camera on the water jet and the view was what i was after. But can't find the post. Grr...

I have fixed my reversing camera inside a housing which uses the same fixing as the rear screen washer and the wire goes through a slot cut into the hole IE think keyhole.
For power to the camera I use the rear heated screen wiring (I have the back window blanked off for security reasons) so no need for the demister. I then use the heater switch for the camera. I have mounted the screens on my sun visor so just flip it down to view. I will post more detailed pictures tomorrow
