Unimpressed with A-Plan Thatcham...
I guess this is what comes from dealing with a broker rather than direct with an Insurance company....

Accident on Monday - reported immediately and put through the Insurance Company. Defender picked up and taken to Recovery company secure compound. Insurance company asks me to call on Tuesday morning to complete claim details
Tuesday - call the insurance company at 9am - they say they have all the info. Insurance Company calls me in the afternoon as they still need more details before they can contact a garage
Wednesday - Garage calls me to arrange collection of the Defender - why? I don't have it - they should have been told this by the Insurance company but weren't...
Friday - the garage has only just got my Defender and won't know if I'll get a courtesy car until they can look at mine on Tuesday next week

So 4 days on and I still have no idea when I might be getting the Defender back - it will be 8 days before anyone has a clue

Next time I think I'll change to a company that I can ring up once and they deal with everything from start to finish.... 2013 Aintree Green 110 Station Wagon SX

Why don’t you phone a plan and ask them to chase up and sort. I have found them to be helpful in the past, it might be that the insurer is slowing the process

good luck with the claim.

if you're thinking of moving to the NFU my experience says DON'T. Never imagined someone in this day and age and with all the pointers I gave them could be so inept.

I will also vouch for the NFU feedback. Absolutely incompetent.

I don't have great experience with A-Plan but I have yet to find a more suitable insurer for Defenders

NFU absolutely hopeless. they used to be very good but over the last few years not so much so.

Saying that measured against others just as bad as the rest.

I have my vehicles insured by Liverpool Victoria and up to now not had any bad experiences. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

When mine was hit by another driver, I phoned Classic Line, my insurers, who had the car collected from me the next day, delivered to the body shop, repaired speedily and delivered back to me . 10 out of 10 from us Thumbs Up Thumbs Up 1983 Series 3 Pick up in Marine Blue

I had a small bump in a car park in June. Both cars drivable. But rang thatcham whilst there and they asked what they wanted to know. They then transferred me to the insurance directly and they asked all if their questions. All sorted and actually very easy to deal with. Just my findings.

OP is it a fault claim or a third party fault?

If someone hit you get an accident management co. involved, or at the very least tell the third party you plan to...

Hi TheWarden

Sorry to hear you've been having some issues with your insurers, could you pm me your details (name and post code) so we can chase the claim?

Also, have you spoken to us here in A-Plan or did you go straight to the insurer?

Thanks

I always had good service with the NFU when you could just contact the local office to sort out accident, theft or damage but now you have to go through a call centre which is not NFU but a contractor. The last accident I had to chase them after the initial call, they lost the record of where they vehicle had been moved to after they collected it from a Land Rover specialist .I found it on a road outside a non descript Auto body shop who's owner had no Idea that he was getting the vehicle or about land rovers. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

I don’t think I’ll be renewing with A Plan again. Attempted theft of my vehicle yesterday. Door lock smashed and door damaged. Reported the incident to the claims line and they arranged recovery of the vehicle. Tried to contact the insurance company yesterday to find out where the vehicle was being taken to for repair and to sort out a courtesy car. On hold for over an hour yesterday and this morning just the normal “All our call handlers are busy, thank you for holding” still not been able to speak to anyone.

I was previously with Land Rover insurance who were really quick to sort out an issue when I had a minor accident previously.

I think I will be going back to them even if it iis a bit more expensive. At least you are able to speak with someone to get things sorted.

Pjembe it's sounds like you were trying to get through to the insurer to find this out as we don't have a call waiting message like this, I've just asked our claims handler to call your insurer on your behalf as that's one of the benefits of being with a broker - Aimee our claims manager will call you as soon as she's got off the phone with them for you. In future if you call 01635 261361 that will come through to our claims team (not the insurer) who will do the chasing/sitting on hold for you here in Thatcham.

Aimee will call you shortly

Thanks

If you could PM me your name and postcode corgi so I can look at why you weren't happy I'd really appreciate it - as we help a lot of members with quotations on this forum in Thatcham Branch but often find people contact their local branch which won't have the same facilities we do here Sad Hopeless is a strong word to use so I would really like to look into why...

Thanks
