Wheel Clamp as extra security.
Just wondering if any one is using a Wheel Clamp as extra security.

If so what one would you recommend (or could possibly fit 265/75/16 set up).

It is a sad state of affairs but I am going away for 4 weeks and am concerned following the recent theft attempt of my Defender.

Thanks in advance....... Mr Fu**ed off.... Cheers Don.

Hi Don.
Yes ,I use a Wheel Clamp on mine when I go away. It is a Bulldog Centaur , which is a serious bit of kit. It takes a while to fit but it certainly does the job. Mine fits my 235 x 85 x 16's so I would check out the fit before you buy.
I had mine for my Morgan Roadster so it was a fluke it fitted the Defender. Thumbs Up 1983 Series 3 Pick up in Marine Blue

I have one of these

And it’s fully adjustable, takes time to initially setup, but easy enough to fit after. It happened to be the same as required for my motorhome.

I use one of the 'London Triangle' commercial size clamps, a seriously heavy duty piece of kit (amongst numerous other security devices).
My Ifor Williams trailer has 4 wheel clamps as well as a heavy duty hitch lock.

Another vote for the Bulldog. I have the CA2500 Centaur. Serious security which for me quickly became easy to fit or remove. I use it daily and don’t find it a chore in light of the protection it provides. The large circular disc that you can see in the photos elsewhere on this thread is backed with a rubber sheet. This will prevent damage being caused to the rim provided you handle the clamp with due care. I can’t deny that the clamp takes up a significant storage space in the back of a 90 if you wish to transport the clamp around.

^^ Agree Centaur CA2500 is excellent and heavy piece of protection. Just be careful if installing it on alloys. Risk of damaging the wheel is pretty high. Otherwise nothing than good.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

I have a Bulldog wheel clamp, its a huge beast and heavy. It certainly would be hard to remove, however, the fitting of the clamp is not as straightforward as it seems, it is incredibly heavy and I would recommend wearing heavy duty gloves while fitting because if you trap your fingers in the clamp while fitting the arms then a serious amount of skin would be removed. Also as you have to crouch down to fit it and if you have bad knees or back or if the ground is wet you will struggle.
For a long term solution such as leaving the Defender in storage while away it's great but to be honest fitting the lock at night then removing it in the morning (particularly when it is raining) is a bit of a chore and if you carry it around with you in the back the thing is so big it takes a massive amount of space especially in a 90.
As a security device the Bulldog is hard to beat, just be aware that fitting and storing is not as easy as some would suggest.

Me too London Triangle fitted when on holiday or when parked at others houses overnight, I also think it looks like an official wheel clamp that clampers use, so sort of changes peoples perception of the car with it fitted DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy
