[For Sale] 2002 Defender 90 TD5
My sister has decided to sell her Defender as it is no longer used enough (1,000 miles in the last year). It has been used mainly as a school run vehicle and getting around in the winter. On road use only and not towed or worked etc. Serviced by the local LR independent.

It suffered a small scrape in the supermarket car park - photos show this. Nothing major and an easy repair.

It has an MOT until Jan 2020. 154,300 miles. Reg No is CW52 FKN. £10,250.

It is currently near Mold, near Chester.

Any Q’s please PM me.

Rolling with laughter it’s not as bad as it looks Greeni! If I was doing it I would put a new wheel arch flare on and the tub just needs minimal work/paint to get it perfect or could clean up and use as is.

Not wanting to state the obvious but if you now have a nationwide account open you can apply for a loan via their online banking. You paid off the old loan with the insurance cheque & this is within the budget you've mentioned somewhere else so get in touch with Alex mate - you'll kick yourself if this goes & you haven't given it a proper punt!

Before this gets listed on eBay, just wondering what people’s thoughts were on price. Not much interest so far so is the price wrong?

Appreciate constructive advice and not wanting to repeat the thread on are prices tumbling.....

Thanks for any thoughts you want to share.

Selling vehicles on here is always an uphill battle as, generally speaking, we've all already got one.

Personally though, it seems like a lot of money for something that doesn't look very well cared for. The state of the rear crossmember and the big gash in the side would definitely put me off. I reckon that a bit of investment in putting those right would go a long way to getting a quicker sale. Darren

Completely agree with LRA. It's strong money for something that needs work. Land rovers generally sell on condition rather than milage Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I'd concur with what's been said - I have sold a "few" defenders in the past and they do need to look good to get interest.
It looks to be not far off being a really smart looking 90...

From an initial impression - which is what buyers generally look at when sifting through the many vehicles for sale - the corrosion on the side sill trims and the rear cross member just ring alarm bells.
I'd be viewing expecting rotten doors and potential hidden bulkhead issues as well as having a very good going over of the chassis.
(this is ignoring the gash - that's a different issue!)

It may have zero corrosion issues, but without proof (photos underneath etc), those photos would stop most people coming to have a look at the price.

Spending £500 on it might see you your £10250 asking or close and a quick sale
Selling as is might take a while and you get knocked down to £9k or less

Also, photos of engine bay, bulkhead corners, all angles etc - basically as much as you can really does help and limits the amount of surprises for a potential buyer.
It also prevents a lot of time being taken up with people messaging/calling and asking the same questions!!

Thats interesting
I was toying with selling my 2001 90 TD5, I keep flip flopping on the idea.
Mine had a galvanised chassis fitted a couple of years ago, I bought 5 new alloys and tyres which came off a new vehicle being tarted up by a famous company in Rippon, half leather heated seats ( not yet piped up with leccy) leather steering wheel from same source, fitted Discovery transfer box rebuilt by mysel, some soundproofing added by me, new bumper three years ago.
Needs tub tops taking off and painting and back axle cleaning up and painting.
I have spent a fortune on it and was wondering if anyone could give a price guide, depending on whoich I may sell or keep it.
Here it is looking clean.
