My first Defender!
Hi,

Having driven company cars for the last few years i missed the fun of driving. I can’t fault my last 2016 BMW 530XD with all options on anything except for giving no fun in driving any more. The speed needed to make the drive interesting is too much for normal traffic.

So I recently bought a 2009 2.4Tdci 110 SW. The car was recently imported from Italy and generally rust free. The previous owner increased rideheight by 5cm in the form of a Terrafirma kit.

i’ve put in s better stereo system, led lighting and other small stuff. Over the weekend i installed a BAS Hi-Flow intercooler, and new open exhaust pipes to replace the dpf and the middle damper. This morning i installed a BAS remap.

That really made the car fun to drive. Did not expect that impact. Top!

Next steps are fitting a cruise control and trying to reduce the noise inside the car. Mid term i want to install Ashcroft atb’s and a stronger drivetrain parts. Long term plans are fitting a Vb airsuspention setup and eventually a LT1 V8 matched to an 8 speed automatic.

Wish i got one earlier!

Enjoy your first Defender Smile

Looking forward to reading more as you continue to modify the car. Your plans for a V8 and 8 speed automatic transmission sound very interesting.

Hi Mies, welcome to one of the best forums 👍

I also had a BMW 335d which was pretty fast and comfortable on the motorways.
I part exchanged it for a Defender 90 td5 which is a completely different beast but is much more rewarding and fun to drive.

P.s. photos are good 😂!
