Electromagnetic interference? That's been known to cause starting problems at the interference causes the 10AS and the FOB not to "see" each other and therefore not start.
Are there any high tension electricity wires around? Unshielded high voltage wires? These could be causes of the interference. If there are such things, you can try pushing the truck a few meters away and try starting again when you think you are clear of the interference. I know of a guy in my neck of the woods who had this issue after attending a car expo. Turns out, he parked right on top of a buried power junction with unshielded cables. He got a few guys to help him push his D110 a few meters away from the parking spot and the truck started right up with no issues. I hope your predicament is just as simple this. |

Had the same problem a while back called Land Rover assist the guy took the F 9 fuse out to re-set the immobiliser and it seemed to sort it . You need to leave it for at least 30 seconds to allow any residual power to disappear.
He said disconnecting the battery would do the same thing. You may have different problem but could be worth a try. F9 is in the fuse box under the steering column. Nick |

I had something similar last summer. I did not lock my Defender for one night. Next morning impossible to start the engine. I had to lock the car, open it again and then it worked again

What does the little red light on the dash do when you key on? Can't remember exactly how it shows it but the two clear lensed lights that flash for the immobiliser tell you when the key's flat - there's a thread on here somewhere about it. Starting for a split second then dieing is exactly what mine did when the key went flat... I tried my second, and that was flat too after having not been used/having a new battery for years. Thankfully it was on the drive not out and about.
Definitely try a new keyfob battery as part of your investigation! Land rover are meant to change them on a yearly service I believe. The same problem happens incidentally if you remove the key fob from the key and leave it in your pocket/jacket and try to start it with just the key in the barrel with the fob out of range. |
