Advice on repairing this paint damage
This is on the rear of the car, only on one side. I tried touch up paint but ends up peeling off again. Any thoughts on prep, finish and protection? I am not looking for it to be perfectly blemish free, just to tidy it up. I have touch up paint and colour matched rattle can available as well as primers and lacquer.

A light sanding, clean with degreaser, etch primer wait 24hrs then touch up paint not sure on drying time prior to lacquer. There is some proper techers for blending if you search YouTube Thumbs Up 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Hi,

I would temporary mask the surrounding area to save any scratches to the paintwork.
Gently sand the damaged area and feather in the edges so you have a smooth surface.
If there is any signs of oxidisation then you can use solution like ALI-CLEAN before painting, see attached photo.
Once the area is thoroughly rinsed and dried then use couple of thin coats of etching primer which can be sanded down with 400 grit wet sandpaper after 20/30 minutes drying time.

You can either spray the repaired area or use very fine artist brush to paint the area.

The lacquer should be sprayed within 2 hours after spraying the top coat.

Good luck 👍
