Wheel Bearings
I'm putting new brakes on all four corners so at the same time do the wheel bearings as she has done 120k so preventative maintenance.

I've been sent a bearing kit by Maltings but its the old style double nut. I need to get the car back on the road by Monday so can't start waiting for different spacers as per the manual.

I think I have two options:

1) Replace bearings and tracks then reuse the current spacer and replace the existing stake nut with the first old style Retainer nut and torque up 210Nm. Check hub float and hopefully zero. If all good put on washer and second nut, torque that one up to 210 and bend over washer.

2) If hub float is not zero remove the spacer and revert to the old fashioned route of torquing up then turning back 90 degrees.

Hopefully, that makes sense and I'm on the right track having looked at previous posts?

If I were you I'd ditch the spacer and revert to the old system, superior in almost every respect.

However the process for the old system is simply to fit and zero the end float, then pinch up the lock nut, recheck the end float and if correct stake the lockwasher.

As above I would ditch the spacer, and stake nut system, and revert to the older twin nut setup.

But in reality if fitting good quality bearings the spacer you have on current setup will be the correct one.
