Labcraft lights are extremely good, I have a scenelite S18 as a reversing light and if their interior lights are as good you weren’t be disappointed Thumbs Up 2015 HT XS 90

If it's just for general fixed lighting, LED strip lighting is the simplest and most versatile. You can get a 10 metre reel of single colour waterproof for about £20. It runs off 12v and can be cut to any length.

If you're wanting something a bit different you can also get the RGB versions which, with the use of a control box and remote can be configured to just about any colour. Usually about £25 for a 10m reel.

This is the interior of our trailer during conversion that shows how well every corner is lit up by the multiple LED strips...

The strips are mounted to each roof bar, on the back side so they don't dazzle. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

Mounting these strips onto something metallic is a good move to increase their life.

Commercially, they are usually run in an aluminium extrusion. This acts as a heat sink to disapate the heat. We sometimes insert a plastic diffuser into the extrusion to diffuse the light.

There is a real misconception that LEDs run cool and all is ok. They actually aren’t very reliable in elevated temperatures and thus mounting them in a metal extrusion, or as davew has, on a metal surface, will go a long way to prolong the operational life.

LED strip is fantastic stuff. It’s used all over these days for getting lighting in areas where lighting couldn’t be fitted in years gone by. As a rule of thumb, with all things, the more you pay, the better quality the LED chip sets are likely to be.

Cracking product. Thumbs Up

Thanks for that, will try mobile centre for labcraft and will try the strip roll lighting, change in colour when camping may be good.

Thanks

I've had loads from https://www.ultraleds.co.uk for various vehicle and house projects and been impressed with their service and quality. They also sell matching aluminium profiles and several types of diffuser. You can then make lights of exactly the length needed for your trailer. I've used the waterproof strip in mine - directly stuck onto the inside of the aluminium side/roof flaps.

As mentioned earlier - the brighter LEDs run surprisingly hot, so attaching the strip to something with thermal mass can only be a good thing for their longevity.
