Not sure if this has been shared here yet but this video is the best we’ve seen of the new defender yet I guess. I’m glad they’re keen on the US market as they like ‘em tough over there!

^^^ I completely agree on both points.
The new Defender will actually be a Discovery replacement (in the same way that the new Disco is actually a Freelander replacement). The Bollinger B1 will be the only Defender replacement we're likely to start. |

Interesting video. Couple of quick observations. It doesn’t look like a body on chassis construction or no front or rear axles, so something out of the existing Land Rover parts bin? The bonnet appears to be poorly fitted which may be a disguise. It certainly won’t be instantly recognisable as a defender as it currently stands. I can live with added technology, but please make it purposeful. A car for every occasion not just Sainsbury’s car park |

I think it's on the Alloy and Grit site but they looked closer at the images and showed that a lot of that camo is deliberate to make it look like a Disco and the bonnet, roof line and side panels will be more Defender-esque. The new Defender will be whatever JLR need to put out to take on everything from an entry level L200 to a V6 X Class. It has to be. That Bollinger is a niche product and would be surprised if it ever gains any real traction in the market. The new Defender HAS to be more comfortable, economical, easier and cheaper to build.... They need to shift the units. Let's face it, we love our Defenders DESPITE their shortcomings, not because of them - that's why you know you'll get a wave back because the driver of the other Defender is driving it because he loves it rather than because it was a sensible purchase. Does anyone know whether companies such as ARB, Terrafirma etc etc are working on aftermarket parts for the new defender? It would look quite different with a lift, rack, winch/winch bumper etc......

Are you sure? The T5 is the Disco3/4 and RRS that were built on a chassis. I thought (perhaps incorrectly) that the T5 production line no longer exists, the new defender is monocoque with front and rear subframes. The same as FFRR, Velar, Disco5 and New RRS. I am happy to be corrected 130's have feeling's as well you know  |

My mistake. I thought I'd read that in one of the more credible recent articles but I can't find it now amongst all of the chaff. What I have found though, is another piece that suggests it'll be on a budget version of D7, which is the current Range Rover platform. Regardless though, it won't have solid axles and will come from the existing parts bin, which was the point I was responding to. Darren

So are we going to see it with rocket launches and machine guns on the back tray or toiling around a mine site somewhere , or maybe outside a hairdressers salon somewhere ?? My guess is the later , living off the legend that was once Land Rover !!
