Like Rashers, we have never previously insured any of our dogs and have only really being caught out once with a 12 month old that had lymphoma and cost us a bomb. Having read all of the above we have decided to insure our latest puppy at least for the first year and then decide whether to continue or not.

We have decided to go with PetPlan (despite my reservations about an Indian call centre), our vet seems to think that along with NFU they are more efficient when dealing with claims. Defender 90XS SW

Interesting reading all the above.

We’ve let our insurance lapse on our boy. The premiums went up to £57 a month which I think is ridiculous for a 5year old spaniel that has never had any veterinary procedure in his life. We were with kennel club, and had planned to look around at other providers, but never got around to choosing one. I do question if it is required. I know people say my dogs vets procedure cost x thousand, but I do question if that is the “insurance price” not the cash price.

May get a quote from PP as they get good reviews on here.

Andy.

Hi were with pet plan and the one time we claimed for Barney which was last year after finding 2 lumps, the vet operated the next day they were absolutely faultless the vets did everything for us and we received a letter from PP to say the claim had been dealt with, that was for just shy £1400, we would definitely recommend them Thumbs Up Paul Tash n Barney

another thumbs up for pet plan , I have multi dog discount and again a discount for being a volunteer with a dog rescue charity.
My 10 year old bitch had a reaction to Metacam when she was spayed 9 years ago and with a £7k vet bill there was no quibble or problem with the claim , then again last year another dog at 10 had a rare and aggressive form of cancer with a £5K again no problems and all settled quickly with no fuss.
Personally I can't fault them

I was quoted £35 per month by PP for Lifetime cover (up to £7000 per annum vets fees). If you think pet insurance is a nightmare you should get yourself a horse or two. Big Cry Defender 90XS SW
