I believe OBD2 ports were only added to 15p engines - 2003 onward. But if it did it’s hidden under the cubby I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/

A 2001 OBD port should be under the front middle seat. Near to the passenger chair (on a RHD) vehicle. Mine is a 1999 model and its present. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Thank you for the responses, I have stripped out the seat box and nothing under any of the seats or leading from the ECU under the drivers seat, there is a blanked off blue connector block?

It's not a standardised protocol. A regular OBD reader won't be able to connect, you'll need a Hawkeye or a Nanocom for a Td5.

No but you should still have an OBD style socket (unless relocated to elsewhere) 1999 Defender TD5 110

Definitely a Td5
 I have a Nanocom, so if I find it I will be able to read it, so going to have another good look under the seat box to make sure its not been tucked away somewhere.
I'll get a picture of the blue block connector and return. Thanks for your help so far. Ian |

The "blue block" is a circuit 'header' (C0294) - where common circuits are joined together - Click image to enlarge The blue headers usually have four separate circuits - Paul.

Yep circuit block, absolutely no sign of the obd port beneath the seat base or along the loom to the bulkhead!

Could be worth removing the middle set/cubby box (whichever you have) and then the 4 screws that hold the cover plate down... the previous owner may have just pulled the socket back through the plate and zip tied it up out of the way above the gearbox (or onto the battery cable that's under there) to stop people* from accessing it "in the cab"
*people meaning thieving scrotes.... |
