Off/On or On/On? Normal or momentary?  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Which make of switches have you got Steve?


The switch with terminal layout below is not on the Carling switch layout on the Mud site

So which brand of switch is it?

Couldbe a few different switches

Try rocking the switch. Does it lock into a position when pressure is removed or is it sprung loaded to return to centre


If a Carling switch it could be

a) . Off-On (EU)

b) . On-On (EU & USA)

c) . Mom-off-Mom (EU & USA)


c) can be determined if the switch does not latch into the top or bottom position and rests in middle.

b) . Put a meter on pin 2 and 1 and rock the switch should get zero resistance on either the top or bottom position. Meter on 2 and 3 should get zero resistance in opposite switch position. This switch will lock into top and bottom and rest in middle

a) Off-ON . (EU) . Meter on 2 and 1 should get zero resistance. Should lock into either top or bottom . off-on

Its a bodge to make the indicator lamp in the switch work because the mudstuff ones are US spec. 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread

Hmmm. Should be a code starting V1D?

Answer to your previous question is: I don't know what the link to pin 2 does - it doesn't match the expected working from Carling's own datasheet.

Hence asking what the exact Carling switch code is so I can find it Thumbs Up  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Ok V4 are On-On type

Power in to 2
Power out to 1 in one position
Power out to 3 in the other

No link required.

Check with a meter which of 1 or 3 is connected to 2 with the switch in your desired "on" position.

The US/EU types available make this a headache too.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
