Yes about it rolling easy, high centre of gravity, heavy body and soft suspension never good, I was always wary of this with my old discovery on motorways/fast roads.
I think at least defenders have a lighter body and stiffer suspension so hopefully a bit less likely to flip like that, but obviously don't have as much strength in the body for protection in the event!

The Discovery 2 had ACE (active cornering), this is very efficient and much better that any stiff suspension or solid ARB on a Defender...

A Defender would have been a lot worse, and I'm not even talking about the driver!

How many Disco 2 still have ACE working? Or been converted to coils and hd shocks? I’ve viewed several 7 seaters that have been converted.

Mine does. I cannot understand why anyone would consider removing the ACE, it is one of the things that makes the D2 an all-time great.

I can fully understand converting from air to coil at the rear, when I ordered mine I specifically opted for coils. Mine was a 5 seater, I think in the UK the sevens were all air.

It was an option iirc? Our 99 Discovery 2 was never fitted with it despite being a GS 7 seater. Formerly mao99999

Sorry, do you mean was air an option, or were coils an option?

I thought that 5 seaters had coils and 7 seaters had air as standard, but I may well be completely wrong! I know that my GS5 had coils, and I would not at the time (2002) have bought one with air (it had a bit of a reputation for developing leaks in those days).

I have said it before on this forum and will no doubt say it again, but a really do believe that time will show the Disco 2 to be one of the best multipurpose vehicles of all time.

I believe but could be wrong, air suspension was standard on 7 seaters and coils only on 5 seaters.
ACE was an option up to GS spec and I believe standard on all seaters after that.

Apparently type approval was never sort for coil suspension on 7 seaters and to convert is classified as a modification.

I’ve got to totally agree with blackwolf Discovery 2 is the thinking mans Defnder In so many wayss shame I didn’t feel the same in 2008 (recession) when they were losing approximately £1k per month. Formerly mao99999

I do miss my discovery sometimes, it was a great all round vehicle as said many times before Thumbs Up
It also owed me nothing.

My dad still has his 04 es premium and I like going in that occasionally, and I would be really tempted to buy it if he sold it alongside my Defender.

A familiar bit of road that one, the A57 coming away from the Sheffield Parkway. The left lane (about a mile from the previous roundabout is often busy). There will always be a string of cars trying to bypass the mile of queuing traffic and cut in at the last minute. 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread

not really the point but looks like they may have been going a little too quick all things considered.

One of my favorites is the one where the Scammer break checks the defender.

Why did you slam on your breaks?
Because you were right up my arse!
Because you pulled out last minute! And i kept far away from you I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/

yeah that's the one pal, I know a few people have had a go at the disco owner and also the BMW owner. But I recon there has been more to that before hand. No one would go that far unless they were really wound up.

I have been very, very tempted to do the same thing too. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Is there a video of that? The only car to do a similar trick to me was a 206 that pulled right out at the very last minute. Which nearly ended up been put into a bus by me, I tell you what he did try to slow down after we got off the arounderabout. But realised I wasn't pratting about with the bull bar nearly touching his arse going up hill. Very Happy Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
