Looking for Campsite Recommendations - Normandy
I'm planning a camping trip to Normandy next June in connection with the 75th D Day anniversary. Undecided as yet whether it will be my ground tent or the roof tent. However, I'm looking for recommendations for campsites in and around the Bayeux/Caen areas. I'd much prefer quieter adult only sites (if there are such places in France) since i'm travelling solo so don't need the family friendly play areas/pools/restaurant facilities. Any suggestions from our well travelled forum members please?

We are visiting for the 75th d day comemorations and we have booked into a campsite that we have used a lot when we have visited the area over the years.
Details are :-
Le Chateau de Martragny
Part of the Les Castels chain which are usually excellent . www.les-castels.com
We booked back in July when we came back after our trip to the Alps and we were told that they were already taking a lot of bookings for the early June period. They said that all the local campsites get very busy ,and they use temporary pitches beside the entrance drive to accommodate everyone.
It is about 6 miles from Arromanche and is central for most of the landing beaches , and is about 40 minutes from the Ouisterham ferry port.

Nick.

Huttopia are another chain of campsites that are always excellent. I would presume they have a site in that region 2002 110 td5

You can actually search camping sites on the gites de france website (independent camping sites are classed as gites) by region so fir normandy its https://www.gites-de-france-normandie.com/...ing=o& . They are more independents rather than chains but that is likely to your advantage because more basic and less attractive to those with kids.

We used that site when we visited for the 60th anniversary events. It was an excellent site and well located for the British and Canadian beaches.
It is a bit further to get to the US landing areas. 1995 Defender 110 CSW
