Red colour variations
Can anyone help me with their views on red the colour codes and shades in the LR red.

I have been looking online, but it seems incredibly difficult to work out colour match accuracy.

I have a Rememberance car poppy on my 90, which is very nice but as some of you probably know fade due to UV.
I don't want to replace it year on year, and I don't want a pinky shade poppy which it is now.

I would like to use a LR factory metallic.

What would be your closest colour match suggestions? I'd like to see what you all say. Thumbs Up

Isn't the point of the poppy to replace it every year to donate to the British legion? Ray

I was wondering if that might be the reason, I thought that myself.
Trouble is they don't even last that long though..

Nothing wrong with making a donation separately, and the one I have actually cane from the RBL and not off an eBay seller.
I just used that as a refernce pic.

Just noticed your post Grafty, thank-you. Thumbs Up

Am I correct in thinking Firenze is more darker than Rimni?

I'll go with Rimni but I was just wondering. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

I did this in the end over the last few weeks. LR Rimni Red.
It did the job just perfectly, my only reason for doing this was so hopefully it'll last longer rather than fading.

Bought this poppy and made a donation on top this year.

I'm pleased with it.

Red is one of the colours which are susceptible to fading in sunlight.

Just have a look at the faded reds on some older cars.

Yes it would be possible to put UV inhibitors in with the dye in the plastic poppy production but I am guessing that it is not done for cost considerations.

We have a hard anodised black aluminium fairlead which has faded to a rather nice bronze colour over a 12-18 month period. Apparently using UV inhibited hard anodised process cost 3 x that of standard hard anodising.

Thumbs Up As others have mentioned, I think it is so they don't last so they are re-bought.
That's fine, and donations are made due to this.

But just making a pure donation is more viable and more environmentally beneficial than replacing these each year.
I'm sure it's UV related as it disintegrated in the summer last year, prior to this went pink. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

I have known this with anodised too, normally black as you mention but also red too.
Due to being unknown if it's rectified and UV stable which most aren't I avoid anodised for that reason.
Personally I much prefer paint, okay, it's not hard wearing at all and prone to damage but if looked after will last years.
And if re-painted will last many more years again and look like new.

It is however a pain on anything that is intricate with much detail, as that is not such an easy thing to paint prep and actually paint properly.

You definitely can't beat the lustre of a metallic black with a highly polished clear either in my opinion.
I did the centre of the poppy with Santorini too.

It was only a quick job, very pleased with it.

In a couple of months I'll paint finish it and wax it, of course I can't do that for at least 30 - 90 days yet.

This aside, the message the poppy represents is the important part.

We will remember them. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

^^^^^
My Red Arrows lightweight is 'Signal Red' same as the planes.
It's a pretty decent match for the poppies.
