Header Tank/Expansion Tank/Coolant Tank
Good afternoon,
Have a little issue and wondering if anyone knows a solution with the Header tank. Since fitting the +2" Turrets to allow the +5" Shocks to be fitted the header tank has been very close to the top of the shock. (see pictures). Has anyone else had this issue, or can see something that i may have overlooked, as i cant close the bonnet properly.
And for some reason i dont think i will be allowed to drive the 90 on the road without the header tank secured to the wing lol

this was the first bodge job to get around the situation

This was a second idea to get around the issue - but doesnt allow the bonnet to close due to being too high up

Any help would be muchly appreciated Thumbs Up Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy as its the only thing really holding me back getting an MOT

I had the same issue, eventually overcome by moving the rad and header to the back!

What about fitting a td5/puma style header on the bulkhead.

I wouldn't be running it on those longer bolts on anything other than tarmac. Looking the header or punching a hole in it would not be ideal. Cheers

Had a similar issues after fitting +2 turrets and ended up with a similar way to your top picture. 2 upper mounts are sections of tube that the bolts pull through to the wing and then there is a lower brace that ties the header tank to the inner wing and stops it moving. With the standard bonnet there is no rubbing on the expansion cap and the tank doesn't touch any bodywork or suspension components, it doesn't move if you try and shake it hard.

This was a few years ago but from memory the tubular upper mounts are the remains of an old hacksaw frame and the lower brace started life as some stainless steel kitchen tongs...the joys of a student budget Laughing

I had thought of putting the header on the bulkhead but that means moving all the pipe work urghhhh lol... plus will it fit due to the air box and pipe on one side ? 1995 Land Rover Discovery 300tdi - Sold

Hi Matt, it's been like that for about 5 years now and no issues whatsoever, the bottom brace makes a big difference and stops it wobbling around. From memory the pipe that runs from the bottom of the tank to the bracket on the timing case and then into the divider needed shortening a touch. Before that it wouldn't sit in the clip on the timing case as can be seen in the photo. 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop
