Adventure side sill guard removal
Hi all,

I need to remove the side sill guards from my Adventure 110.
I am getting a rust treatment done underneath and would like to know what to expect before I attempt to remove it.
Assuming fellow Adventure owners may have some experience removing the sill guards (and front guard hopefully).

1) May I know if it is a matter of simply unscrewing the 7/8 screws along the side or is it a little more complex than that?
2) They seem to attract a lot of white residue. Appreciate any tips on wax / polish to get them clean while they are off.
3) Would you know the LR part number for both sill guards?

Many thanks! APK

The alloy plate is one piece which attaches to a heavy sub frame underneath I would remove the alloy plate and Treat the frame along with the chassis 2008 110 2.4 XS Utility (Hagrid)

Thanks, I decided to leave them in so the whole setup gets treated.
Based on www.defender2.net/forum/post609736.html it does not look like the alloy plate is easily separated from the sub frame without proper access under the vehicle. The bottom row is not a problem, but the top row is not easy to access.

If you know of any wax/polish that is suited for this piece, I would really appreciate it. Thanks Thumbs Up APK

Take them off as you wont get the protection on the part of the bracket that’s actually need,

I would speak to Craig at buzzweld and get some fx2k made in silver and coat them no more corrosion or problems then

Failing that still speak to Craig as he can do you a clear etc lacquer to go on the plates to protect them if you want to keep original finish 2008 110 2.4 XS Utility (Hagrid)

Hi, as i put the Adventurer sills to my 90 I can say that it’s easy to remove them. It would be good to have a helping hand to prevent them from falling down. If you have them apart you should think about getting them galvanized. I’ve done that before the first install so they are well protected. The frame is protected with underbody spray.
Best regards
Tom
