Morning folks.
So, we are now heading with great haste in to the depths of Winters dark mornings and darker evenings. This morning I was once again reminded that the single reversing light on the Defender is pitiful, even if it is the up rated LED version. I am looking for inspiration... At present I am thinking of mounting a combination of lights around the roof rack of Miffy; flood/work light style on the rear and smaller scene-style lights on the flanks so we can see what we are stepping on during those early morning dog walks. I've fitted a pair of 18w LED flood lights, which have been positioned so that they don't project above the roof (not an issue if fitting to a rack) and are not obscured by the rear door being opened.
Click image to enlarge I was originally going to go for a Scenelight positioned centrally above the door but it interfered with plans that I have for a reversing camera. Also, two lights spaced as these are should reduce shadows and give a more even light over a wider area. That's the theory, anyway. I'd suggest Rigid 2x1 Scene lights to the rear or 2x2 if you want traditional worklight style. Lifetime warranty (2 year on powdercoat) and they are very small but bright.
I'm also putting Rigid Ignite units down each side under the rack for some side illumination. https://www.rigidindustries.com/ignite-backup-kit-bu-ignite.html https://www.rigidindustries.com/1x2-65deg-...86610.html Other options (that I don't normally sell) are Labcraft SI series scene lights, probably the most common ones out there but I think they are fairly bulky for the light output. I doubled up the reverse light & mounted 2 lights on the roof, switched at the dash

I have one round high level light, comes on with the reverse light, but also can come on with a dash mounted switch.

12 inch 72W LED light bar mounted centrally over door.
A combination of flood and spot LED's ........... all the rear light you'll need and only £25 - £30 on e-Bay 
If you really want to overdo it, a 20 inch 120W version is only a few quid more  Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |

I made some brackets for side lights on my DCPU. Also cheap chinese LED from ebay but perfect for this use.
