Dials...
Just a small thing but something you look at all the time and also wanted something to do when quiet was needed (evenings etc). No drills / angle grinders / compressors So the dash was looking pretty cruddy and the dials quite rusty
To break it down without breaking stuff when everything is rusted together is quite hard and takes extreme amounts of patience
Click image to enlarge Once everything was down to parts it was to the sand blaster with the rusty metal stuff.
Then paint
I also had to paint the needle as it was rusty which was fiddly as F! Click image to enlarge I need a some new rubber seals to complete the job and the dash is sat in primer
I then cleaned the glass and gently cleaned the dials with some Isopropyl alcohol and after a quick test re-assemble I'm pleased with outcome ![]() |

Quick question Tiger, is it a home sand blaster you have or access to industrial?
Just asking because I’m about to embark on a resto and I think a small one in my workshop would be ideal. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy |

Just a little benchtop one that was £80
It’s flawed and very hungry on the air but it does work Click image to enlarge |

Ok that’s very compact. What make is it and what compressor have you got? 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

it's a no name Chinese thing
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sandblaster-San...2371734217 There's a few blogs on how to improve them. (I've not done it yet) http://bullfire.net/Blast_Cabinet/Blast%20Cabinet%20Mods.html I was using it with a 24lt Stanley Compressor and it was struggling, it worked but it was constantly running to keep up. I've since upgraded to a 3HP 100ltr (2nd hand off eBay) which runs it brilliantly, reckon you need at least 50ltr and 3HP to get the CFM. Click image to enlarge |

Tiger, if you don’t mind me asking what was your process/paint for the windscreen frame. Is that a primer or galvy paint, what’s your plans?
