Could I use one of these for Td5 heater fan would it need resistors.?

To fully replace the heater switch in a pre-tdci defender you will need a 3 position switch (off-on-on). Resistors are not required if you are only changing the switch as they are built into the heaterbox itself. Ignoring the fact that the lever on the left of the binnacle (for rhd vehicles) controls the air inlet flap through the bulkhead, it simply switches the blower motor to earth either through the resistor or not, with the addition of an off position.
I have not looked at the configurations of the rotary versions of the carling switch but if it has an integrated illuminated indicator (telltale) light this will not work correctly as you are switching an earth path not a positive feed. It shouldn't affect any normal switch illumination if the switch has such a thing as they are usually wired completely separate on carling switches. Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |
