I wonder what McGovern's thoughts on a Series 1 station wagon (not a Tickford) would be. The vehicle is pure functionality with no concession whatsoever to style, and as a result actually has a classic style that is both unique and timeless.
I imagine that to him it would be a complete eyesore, although it does at least have an offset rear number plate. |

I nearly bought a 107 SW 30 odd years ago from a “ Hippy” couple who lived in Stavely in the Lake District. I asked if I could take it for a test drive, “ Sure Man, take it up the hill to Kentmere and back”. So off I trundle up this steep narrow road go to the top turned it round and headed back down only to find that the brakes failed, pedal to the floor and gathering speed, so yanked on the handbrake and came to a shuddering stop. Managed to get some brakes by pumping the pedal. When I got down back to their place I mentioned the brakes. “ Oh yeah man they do that sometimes”. I didn’t buy it but I wish I had because I thought 107 SW were cool even back then.

For some time now I've had an irrational urge to get a 107 pick up. Might have to one day.

It’s not irrational blackwolf, I’m currently negotiating to buy a 1953 80in. I don’t need one but my first Series 1 was an ex RAF 1953 80in and this one was assembled the same month as I was born, which would be quite nice to have

I had a grey 107 pick up, I brought it from a guy in Slough in 1990,
I paid £250 for it which seemed a lot of money for a rusty old pick up! I Kept it for a year, and sold it to a builder in our village who kept pestering me to sell it, he had quite a collection a series 1s languishing in sheds and overgrown fields, He died about 8 years ago, his estate went to his sister, Apparently She wouldn’t let anything go, but we did see the remains of one being trailered away one day, Not sure what happened to them all, or if they still sit there? The place was so overgrown you couldn’t see anything anymore. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

See you there! Years ago I came across a S1 109" 2 litre diesel that was for sale near me. At the time I had no idea how rare they were and mentioned it was for sale on an old series one email group I was a member of - it was snapped up the next day! Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond..... |

Hopefully see you there Strang, if the old crate actually makes it!
![]() I've had a 109" 2lt diesel SI for quite a few years now but there's no way I'm going to try and trundle that to Anglesey! ![]() Mustn't hi-jack Jeremy's thread but while waiting for him to update us with news of his Station Wagon, I'll put up a couple of pics of the diesel just to show that I don't do "posh" Series Ones. Useful: ![]() Click image to enlarge but not beautiful, even when posed under a tree! ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge |
