Shelf/storage in rear of USW
I'm looking to put a simple board across the wheel arches in the rear of my USW.

I've seen a board material used in the rear of our flatbed transit at work that looks like a composite ply wood style material but with a brown non slip finish. It survived a xouple of years of weather and the guys throwing tools and pumps in with minimal wear.

Despite my best efforts on Google I'm struggling to come up with what it is and where I cam buy a sheet. Can anyone offer any sort of trade or material names (or an alternative).

I'll try and get a pic next time it's in the car park.

Thanks in advance Keith

That looks like the stuff. Ta very much.

Will need to work out what size sheet and I can spend an afternoon cutting and fitting.

I'll post some pics once I'm done.

Thanks Keith

I did this and used j bolts and made some socket type nuts that sat flush with the top of the board. The hook of the j hooked into the original lashing points meaning I can secure the board properly but remove it and leave no trace of it ever being there

Often sold as phenolic plywood. £40 or so should get you an 8’x4’ sheet of 18mm stuff from your local timber/builders merchant that is suitable for your use.

You can get much higher quality (i.e. more water resistant) stuff for lining trailers and the like but it’s double the price, or more.

I managed to source a sheet of 18mm buffalo board, cut the sheet to size and mounted it in the rear loadspace. Contemplating using the large off cut to make a platform on the roof rack.

Now to source some j hooks to anchor it fully.

I'm quite fancying the cargo rails that Mud and 4x4 overlander sell to mount on the top and let me anchor the fridge down, or have I missed a smarter idea? Keith
