My 1960 S2 has a chassis number on the VIN plate (and chassis). You'll get a definite answer for a 1970 on the S2 Club. I think it should be a suffix based chassis number.

Plus the Series 2 Club will (on production of copies of documents) provide a correctly stamped and authentic plate for your series.
