It's still pretty much original as it left the Red Arrows 24 years ago, just looking a bit tired.

Apparently there are some in service photos of it in 'British Military Land Rovers' so I've got a copy of that on order to see exactly how it should look Smile.

I've also found some pics of it online from 2004 and it hasn't been hacked about since then.

As it's just had a fresh MOT, plan is to do it as a bit of a rolling restoration, finishing off with a decent respray.

Now:

Spent a couple of hours this morning jet washing a few years of crap of it and not looking too bad.
Plenty of cosmetic stuff to be getting on with though!

Looks like it's still the original 1985 paint job as well.

There is a picture in Mark Cook's Military half ton book. I don't think it is same vehicle but a similarly marked ex Red Arrows vehicle.

I do miss my lightweght - nicer ride than a stock series 3 and I once got stopped for speeding on the motorway in it (it wasn't standard but was still a 2.25 petrol). The springs are a bit softer and the lighter weight means the brakes are less marginal

They're not actually lighter unless you strip them down to their air portable state. Darren
