Exmoor trim heated seat kit

Just ordered the Exmoor trim kit (pads and loom)
For those who have installed did you;

1) wire direct to battery/12v source and make sure the seats are off before you leave the car
2) wire via a relay that is only active when engine running/ignition on (maybe via radio/rear heated screen feed?) and used that to feed the two main relays?
3) other? 1999 Defender TD5 110

I wired mine into a "bluesea" style split fuse block.

One side is permanently connected to my 2nd battery and the other side is energised via an ignition switched relay (switched positive courtesey of some caravan electrics).

The heated seats are on the ignition switched side, I can keep them on as long as the ignition is turned onto the "accessory" position but you can't leave them on if you take the keys out of the ignition.

It seems to work for me. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.

Cheers LRA - didnt think there was wiring in place.
I did have a thought.....i was thinking that if I used a Voltage sensing relay so the heated seats only work at say 14v then i could use the relay to power the heateed seat loom, the heated mirror kit that I also have to fit and finally kick in the split charge relay (which is fed via trip coming from the radio.) 1999 Defender TD5 110

Got the loom installed. Just enough room under a standard cubby box to put the relays and the wires.
Each loom has 7.5amp fuse so wired both looms together and feed the pair of looms via 27amp cables fed from an 80amp relay that is only active once the engine reaches 14v. (switched by a separate module).

I will use the same relay to feed the heated mirror elements when I get around to installing them

All I need now is a parcel from Exmoor trim. 1999 Defender TD5 110
