Years ago when I was a lad I remember seeing a Pathe News film at the cinema showing bus drivers being trained on a skid pan, I wonder if that practice is still learnt today by bus drivers. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

That would have been a dangerous manoeuvre in normal conditions but in the snow it was just suicidal! Well saved by the bus driver though

Not excusing the idiot who tried the u turn, but I think the bus was travelling far too fast for the conditions.

She was clearly driving within her abilities...unlike the car driver. Darren

I listened to her interview on Reporting Scotland earlier. What you can't see on the video is that the bus had been climbing a hill prior to coming into view. Probably carrying a bit of speed to get up the hill, about to offload it over the crest, and then faced with a car in the wrong side of the road. Donald 1994 Defender 300Tdi 110 SW - owned since 2002 - 230k miles and going strong (The 'rolling restoration' or tinkering thread: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic58538.html ) 2000 Range Rover P38 4.0L V8 in the past.. RR classic - fitted with 200Tdi 1984 RR classic - V8 with ZF auto box 1993 Discovery 300Tdi not to mention the minis and the Type 2 VW camper... |
