£215 and a bit of my time, a bit cheaper than garage rates but the panels aren't perfect with a bit of rust on the wing and a couple of stone chips on the bonnet. She'll probably crash it again next month anyway

neat repair that mk1! garage rates would have been well over 300 quid easy. Id wouldn't have even bothered telling the insurance, They would have just wrote it off with out even looking at it and she would have been out of pocket as say, and next year they would have hiked the price up. I bet her insurance is daft as it is, last thing she wants is them taking the out of her even more. All the prangs I have had with the 306s I haven't bothered telling the insurance at all, just got the cars repaired. Worst one for me was the rear quarter panel on the Red DTurbo, £300 quid that cost! This one I have had, I have put the rear bumper through and scuffed the front one, both school boy errors.

Gritting where I live, its only the major bus routes that get gritted. One cut through road is closed, when we have bad weather, its dodgy at the best of times, and its even worse in the rain or snow etc. When the next day after the snow fell, the roads were very, very slushy. The gritter hadn't been out to clear the main roads at all, so some parts were ok and others parts were very dodgy. No way was I risking driving the 306 in that, as that car can be a right handful. As soon as you hit over 2500 RPm (turbo starts to spool) the tyres just spin. That's with decent tyres on too, plus the rear ends can be a little skittish too, if you have budget tyres on. So I thought Id leave that car at home. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Pickles, gritting is a process widely used in North Europe whereby a substance is spread on the roads in order to avoid situations like below from happening. Hope this answers your question.
