Turbo temp fault
Have seen similar threads.

When cruising on a run my turbo seems to stop boosting altogether.

seems to turn into a gutless old diesel , resetting the ignition cures it but it happens soon after.

Engine management light is on.

have you checked the air pipes for splits its a common fault

Sound more like electric problem with turbo controls ( Actuator vane) VGT if you can reset by switching ignition off

and no high pitch air sound and lots of black smoke from exhaust Exclamation

plug the diagnostic in and read fault codes loge in ECM this will help you track down you problem

See my thread on temporary turbo failure.
I thought initially that my problem was a heat problem but I had no change in temp & no warning lights.
In your case I would remove the MAF sensor & wash it off - plenty of info on this site & see if that clears the problem.

Meanwhile I will be investigating my problem

You might also want to check that the wiring harness that runs from the ECU all aruond and over the engine to the turbo actuator isn't chafing and getting damaged at any of the points of contact on the engine. My turbo ceased to boost because one of the feedback connections from the actuator stepper motor wore through because of this, widespread, problem. When I inspected the harness there was significant chafing damage at about four places, and at one point the insulation on the main (permanently live) feed from the alternator to the battery was chafed to the point you could just see copper. I reckon I was days away from a mojor vehicle fire.

After I repaired the broken wire and reinsulated the other damaged ones, then rewrapped the harness and secured it better with more protection, the turbo worked perfectly again. I do still check it for damage as part of my regular service checks.

Many thanks for that.

I'll give it an inspection later , would it still make sense a ignition reset cures my problem ? usually for a very similar amount of time until the turbo dies again?

It is possible, if, for example, something is intermittently grounding and causing a fault, then un-grounding.
