This spare wheel carrier was removed from my Defender at the time of purchase from a Land Rover main dealer. Since that time it has been stored inside.
I am not sure of the make but the Defender was owned by the owner of the dealership prior to me purchasing it and all the other parts fitted are excellent quality. It is a solid lump and the condition is decent, although as you'll see from the photos, there has been some paint flake and it could do with a brush down and touch up. All that is included in the auction is shown in the photos and there are no fixing-bolts or any other parts present. I had the dealer remove it before I collected the car and this is what I was provided with. Instead of selling it, I'd rather the proceeds go to Martin and Defender2.net - I'm guessing it is probably worth £40+ but I may be off, so please feel free to chime in and tell me if I'm over or under selling it - as it is an auction with the proceeds going to the site, the end price is up to you guys! Also, to avoid the 'deal' vultures, I'd ask that whomever would like to bid on it to have been a member of the site for a minimum of 3-months. How the auction will work If you are interested in the carrier, please add your bid to this thread. Bidding closes at the end of Saturday December 2nd 2017. The person who has pledged the highest donation, via this thread, at that time 'wins' the auction. They can donate directly to the site via the link in the navigation menu http://www.defender2.net/forum/donate.php I'm happy for it to be collected from KT12 (Mon-Fri) or can pack it up if someone wants to have it collected at their expense. Any other questions, please ask. Oh, come on lads Mr Fox is trying to be an honest guy and wants to donate to this forum and not like the con man who took some members for a ride, And like many of us who looked at that con man from Knutsford and realised the prices were ridiculous. This member is trying to be truthful. I am sure Martin is doing his best to reassure us all that the recent fraud is just a one-off and let’s face it; there has been enough info given by him on this forum to make sure we are all indemnified, (search) and but some members fall for a cheap deal, that maybe is there own fault. What seems like a bargain is not always so and that has been proved. It is always up to the buyer to make sure the deal is sound. This guy is only trying to give a donation, so this forum is kept alive, so good on him. Just bid and pay in a way that makes you feel happy. Anyway, good luck to Mr Fox in what I think is a very good gesture that perhaps will benefit us all For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

Er, excuse me Gilarion, I'm not doubting Mr Foxs integrity, I'd just like to see the spare wheel carrier so that I can consider a bid. Thus I'm puzzled why I can't see it and othere can 🙁
So wind one's neck in there's a good chap. Mo If anyone has a useful post to help me see the photos so that I can bid, I'd be obliged to you. The Land Rover 90 - Many are called, few are chosen. 50 Shades of Pennine Grey |

Mo, the photos are hosted by Imgur, so I am not sure why you can’t view them - my assumption would be it is something to do with your security settings in your browser. I could always email the photos to you if you wanted?
I didn’t read your post as an accustation but I guess we’re all (especially those who were scammed) still on tenterhooks after the recent episode. For my part, that was the reason I wanted to donate this wheel carrier to the forum fund, rather than pocket the proceeds. It is a great forum, with some superb people as part of the community and I, for one, won’t allow one ‘individual’ to tarnish it for me. For the sake of clarity, and as I said above, I will not be taking any payment for the wheel carrier. The price bid by the winner (and only the winner) should be paid directly to Martin/Def2. If the person would rather wait until they have collected the wheel carrier to pay for it, I am fine with that. I’ll even go as far as to say that should the person come and collect the wheel carrier and be unhappy with it in any way, I’ll personally pay the amount they bid to the forum and stick the wheel carrier in my garage loft, to gather dust but hope I’ll get the chance to use it in the future. Happy to answer any other questions but hope that clarifies my position? |
