90 vs 110 Wheel arch clearance?
I had a look at a new 110 at our local dealer the other day and noticed that it stands taller than my 90. Measuring the clearance between the wheel and plastic wheel arch, I noticed that mine is significantly less.

I have 265/75R16 BF's fitted - don't know if this makes any difference?

I measured my clearance to be 10cm at the back and 12cm at the front wheel arch. Is this normal? Should there be a difference between the 90 and 110?

I bought the vehicle second hand and don't know if the previous owner maybe "dropped the suspension"? (See pic)

It shouldn't be the tyres as the 265s will fill the arches a bit more as they are wider but are the same height as the standard fit 235s.

110s often have a bit more space above the tyre at the back when unladen due to stiffer springs IIRC. John

the rear wheel arch (certainly of a 90) is actually lower than the front. if you're not sure about that take the wing top as a line and follow it all the way to the back. measure from that line down to the bottom of the wheel arch and you'll immediately see the difference. its not been lowered, thats the way they are. this is also a reason some people get stressed about suspension and thing the vehicle is sitting lower at the back when it isnt, it just looks like it is

Not an exact science but I have painted 2 parallel lines on your Defner, you will see that the front arch is higher.

You may need to click on the pic to zooooom in.

PS don't worry it will wipe off its only white chalk paint Thumbs Up

Cool !

Understood. Idea Thanks Andrew. I think I'll leave the lines there - I kinda like the new look Smile

Except for the difference between front and back clearance - Can I conclude that 90's have less wheel arch clearance at the back than 110's and that they therefore stand closer to parallel to the road surface?

could it be that the 110 may have had heavy duty springs on the back?

also things will setle a little over time compared to a brand new one.

justa thought.
