Engine Envy!
I have recently purchased a 1996 Defender with a 200 Tdi. Having spent time with other people who also have 200 Tdi's I have noticed that my seems to be incredibly loud in comparison to others.

I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on whether there is any way I can reduce the noise of it. If even possible. I have seen some people recommend a new pin for the full injector pump but I'm not sure whether 1. if it'll make much of a difference and 2. if it'll be rather costly.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Scotland 2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 DCPU Keswick Green
Start with tappet clearances. My 200 was pretty noisy (and sluggish and smoky)

Tappets were a mile out. After adjusting, it was quieter, smoother, more power and better fuel economy Laughing

I didn't know that you could get a 200 Tdi on a 96 plate Rolling Eyes Clayton.

Thanks for the reply I'll check out the tappers and see what they're like! And nor did I but the person before me must of fitted one in and taken out the 300!
