Its a known problem area for water ingress. Most deform over time. If the seal is not damaged (split or holed), you can pull it off at the bend, and stretch it back into shape. Sometimes works. I had to replace mine though to cure leak.
if you replace would recommend that you buy the LandRover seal, although expensive at £70. |

That is incredibly useful information, thank you! Mine is the same and leaks on the passenger side. My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html

I'm fairly sure the genuine seals have a foam insert on the curved bit to stop it deforming like that. I've tried both and would definitely stick with LR ones if you can stretch to it. 2002 Defender 110 CSW TD5

Bearmach ones aint too bad compared to genuine.
Allmakes and Britpart seals are rubbish. (I was sent one of each instead of the Bearmach, so I've had the chance to compare) Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |

Thanks for the help. I'll pull the seal off and have a look at whether it can be stretched/reshaped, otherwise I'll get a new one.

I have found the Landrover water ingress page. I found it easier if you release the door check strap first when working on the hinge side of the door. The back of the seal can be tightened using pliers to nip it up. I used a rubber hammer to reseat.
Don't be tempted to use silicone sealant. ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Easier said than done.
Depending on how long it's been installed and bedded itself in this can result in the horizontal run pulling down from the top... Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |
