Can you dial down or permanently turn off the DSC?
The roads are a bit bumpy around where I live and the DSC is constantly fighting me. I keep turning it off and the car runs just fine but with the DSC on it just doesn't drive well. Sure, if you drive on perfectly flat motorway all the time I'm sure it does what it's supposed to. But I wouldn't have a need for a Defender then, would I?

So is there a way to just turn the damn thing off? Or retune it for bumpy roads?

On a serious note I found it to be a complete PITA with my 110 but never got around to doing anything about it before I got rid of the vehicle.

I think I read that Pete at B.A.S. had a box on his that automatically turned the DSC off on starting but then you constantly have the annoying light on the dash.

I found it intrusive even when turned off as the traction control started cutting in on bumpy corners.

Mine does this all the time with speed bumps, it's very irritating.

I think a lot of the time for me it is just the noise of the abs pump firing up rather than it actually getting to the stage of applying the brakes, but still it's annoying.

I brought it up at the first service and got the usual response "they all do that" back.

I think it's probably one of these things we have to live with but maybe someone like BAS or Alive could program out the warning light on the dash with a map so when it's switched off you don't have the light glaring at you?! -2015 Defender 90 XS Landmark-

The brakes are coming on and I think it affects the throttle response as well. The engine goes a bit limp when it happens. Don't think DSC is suitable for a Defender.
I will have to bring it up at service but I expect a fob-off response so was hoping for a it more informed response here.
Not sure how good it is for the car if the abs is constantly fighting every single bump in the road. I live in bumpy road territory so more often than not the thing is working away.
Still in warranty so I wouldn't dare having a remap done either.

I bet that LR would have loved to stick with the 2.4 and save the extra development costs of fitting the 2.2, DPF, DSC, etc, but then they'd have had to stop production in 2012.

ABS/TC/DSC all standard on the last models, not even an option for the year. To be fair, the TC has got me out of a few sticky situations where I might have been stuck without. But the pesky DSC is just a nuisance.
Just waiting for a phone call back from my local dealer. Trying to get a first service scheduled in. I've a long list of things I need to have sorted under warranty. Granted, this is genuinely a 'they all do that' issue. Considering there are only a few Defenders around with DSC I imagine not a whole lot of people have a lot of experience with the system either.

I have seen that other thread. I think my DSC is actually functioning correctly. I just drive on Irish roads. This is happening on small bumpy roads taking corners with one wheel in the air... Ok, bit of an exaggeration but you know what I mean Smile

It's the same for me, go over a large speed bump a bit too quickly and the DSC kicks in and starts rattling away - bloody annoying, but have got used to it now to a certain extent. 2016 Defender 90xs SW - Santorini Black with Silver Pack

Interesting thread. I mostly drive gravel roads - and at times I can feel the vehicle going "limp" - i.e. a small quick drop in revs/engine output - ala ASC I had on an A6 2.4 non-Quattro if you experienced aqua planing on bitumen surface. This is how I always understood ASC/DSC to work - namely a cut in engine output and maybe also the selective application of brakes. On gravel road it is however not possible to hear whether ABS is working at the same time or not. Make no mistake though - on hard braking you can feel & hear the unmistakable pulse of ABS - whether tarmac or gravel - and even on slow low range technical descents. Do you ever see the DSC yellow dashboard light come on - mine never illuminates except when I switch DSC off. Do you have any experience of DSC on snow-/icy roads?

Yes and Yes his new 110 is 1,000,000% better to drive, no cutting out at all. What is scary though is the fact that Carl's old 110 the white one with the 'issue' sat in the dealers for a while and they sold it to AN Other Shocked apparently Land Rover fixed it Confused

New 110 here Im sure Carl will be along to give you an up-date.
