90 AB, painted and non painted bolts for door hinges
Have my 90 AB now for almost a year and only today I saw something very strange.

Some of the bolts of the door hinges are painted and some are not. Anybody seen this before ? or am I to picky ?

it actually irritates me Confused

or is it the character that comes with the last Defender ? Just like my dad's car which was one of the first brand new 110 back in April 1983 and where the bolts of the passenger side floor board were missing.

It's just the way they are assembled. Some parts are bolted together before painting and others after.

If that's the only thing that irritates you after a year then you're doing well Laughing Darren

Door bolts should not be painted. First time I hear anybody say that they received a new ex factory Defender with some of the door bolts painted. Sounds almost like for some reason Solihull, or more likely the dealer, did some after assembly painting.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

just guessing, but if it is a split colour on the body then one half was painted after assembly, either top or bottom.

Not unusual for a car to have retrospective paint at a dealer if damaged in transit.

Seen it loads of times

Very unlikely they'd tell a customer, we never used to.
