Indicator problem
I've recently had an intermittent problem with my indicators - sometimes when signalling, the dash bulb lights up but stays on, accompanied by a continual buzzing sound from behind the dash...

Only happens once or twice a journey, and I wasn't too concerned (thinking it will wait until the next service) - when it happens I push the stalk up & down to simulate the flash...

But today when this happened on a right turn, I noticed the car behind started to overtake, and I had to keep left, so I'm thinking the outside lights don't illuminate at all!

Typically, when I stopped and got out to see if the lights come on, it behaves itself!

Any ideas? Faulty relay?

Have you got a towbar fitted?

Does it sound like the alarm you get when indicating to remind you that you have a trailer?

If so it could be a dodgy install of the wiring for the towbar.

THe things I'd be ticking off are:
If you have a trailer socket check it for a short
Check all the bulbs for corrosion
Reseat the relay

Dash light staying on indicates a non-functional bulb, as its intermittent I'd also be suspecting a short somewhere or a dodgy contact being made. Seeing how the car behind didn't notice anything I'd start with Trailer socket wiring and rear bulb. 110 2.4TDCi

Thanks for the pointers - I have a tow socket and I did a bit of wading a few weeks back which may have coincided with the problem - on initial inspection it is looking a bit wet and corroded, so I'll start there...
Thanks.
