Waxyol/Dinitrol alternatives?

are there any other alternatives to these? aware they are well used, but they appear to be 30 year old technology - is there anything newer that is better?

and are there any recommendations on preparing the chassis for whatever goes on? repaint first?

Zagato is your man for this subject. I believe he is using Bilt Hamber for cavity protection now as Dinitrol have mucked about with their recipes. A company called Buzzweld is generating quite a lot of interest with their new range of products but I haven't tried them yet. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I am expecting my Buzzweld kit tomorrow, have seen a few chassis's, trailers etc done and the finish is much better, l am also using their clear coat for all my nice new calipers, springs etc. Andy

Consider using Dynax S50. I did and am very happy with the result. Oh, and it's British.

See a study Bilt Hamber Commisioned about three years or so ago. Quite interesting.

2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Zermatt Silver

I am just about to use a product call Penetrol for my chassis internals. It is not a rust converter but a primer type product. It works by sealing out oxygen and water. It works into all nooks and crannies. My local prerust bloke is going to fog it into the chassis to get maximum coverage. Unlike other products this does not remain tacky so will not attract sand (my issue) and other particles into the chassis rails possibly causing blockage of drainage holes. What do you mob reckon ?

It's similar. I've read somewhere that ACF-50 has toxic concerns whereas Penetrol has not. An aluminium version is also available.

Definitely speak to Craig at Buzzweld - he knows an immense amount about their products and the various options that you can look at depending on whether it's internal, external or the scale of the challenge that you are facing...

1994 Defender 110 300 Tdi CSW Alpine White

Again a (tentative) recommendation for Craig @ Buzzweld. I had a new cross member fabricated and grabbed a couple of spray cans and big tubs of paint off him. Was immensely helpful at responding to emails. So far the finish on the cross member (spray can job) looks decent and was very easy to apply. But it's only been on there a few months.

When I get access to a big workshop (read barn) next year then I'll see if I can find the time to strip back the rest of the chassis and repaint. Ed
