I couldn't wish for a better other half, she has done far more than her fair share in our relationship in more ways than one....
as for the land rover thing, now there's the problem, she is as fanatical about them as me (sometimes more so) and often insists on taking the 110 to work and leaving me with the smart car (the D4 doesn't do the work run as she may get dirty)

I want to say it's a nice problem to have but now she's eyeing up a convertible Evoque. Still I suppose I could treat myself to that V8 D1 that I've been promising myself if she gets a nice new bauble to call her own......

Funny thing is she shoots as well but with a bow..must be something about chicks and weapons who are into landies.

I fell in love with my first Land Rover 20 years ago but couldn't afford it because my girlfriend (now wife) and i were about to buy our first house together, despite that my girlfriend encouraged me to buy it anyway. That was the start of my obsession. Over the years she has accompanied me to pay and play sites, green laning and week long events to the Lake District, Wales etc and for the last 14 years we've been using the Land Rover for overland holidays to Europe, Morocco etc.

Over the years she has owned several Range Rovers and Discoveries and her dream is to own and drive a Series 1, the only problem with that is she can only drive an automatic. She's hoping i'll build one for her but with the price of Series 1's going up, and major mods now being frowned upon, i'm not sure it'll happen. I think it's safe to say that she's as keen on the Green oval as i am, the rest of my family don't understand it, with one exception. 3 years ago my 15 year old niece reckoned she arrived in the best vehicle of the night when i drove her and 2 friends to their school prom in my 101.

I'm one of the lucky ones my wife enjoys driving my 110 (she would love a 90 but it wont fit in her office car park), we double entered my Bowler in comp safaris for a few years and she enjoys a day at the clays too Very Happy

The only issue I have just now is she's spending every available penny on our new house, cant complain too much as she's currently pressing me to fit a double din, reversing cam & sensors to the 110 but I'm not sure if its for my benefit Rolling Eyes 2014 110 2.2TDCi XS Station wagon

I am quite lucky myself in that mine loves all the cars and has one herself, she can also shoot too.

It's just a memory now Big Cry but, just like my first Land Rover, it was my wife that encouraged me to buy it. I'd had every Land Rover that i'd wanted except a 101 but about 3 years ago the prices were going up and i resigned myself to never having one. We'd moved house about 3 years before and were working our way through all the things that needed doing. We had some money put aside for a new boiler and bathroom, Mrs Whirly90 said the bathroom could wait and i should spend the money on a 101, on the understanding that when the boiler finally died i'd have to sell the 101 to pay for that and the bathroom. I owned the 101 for a year before the boiler finally gave up, i'd loved to have kept it longer but it was great to fun while i had it and i've got it out of my system........sort of Neutral

“Today I was thinking about how great my other half is...”

Mine too… but I'm afraid my philosophy is: “I pay, I say”

When she goes shopping, I don't tell her whether to go to Waitrose or Lidl, when the washing machine blows up, I leave it to her to know which spin speed or wash cycle the new one should have. When she shops for clothes, I don't get involved (although she knows that she's more likely to be taken somewhere fancy and have a few bob spent on her if she's wearing Ann Summers and Louboutin rather than Primark and Birkenstock).

But if I want to go out and buy a brand new Morgan, Linssen yacht, absolutely anything I want, I will. Do I really have to ask anybody's permission to spend MY money on anything ME wants? It's not as if it's HER money, is it? My only rule is if I/you/we can't afford to pay cash - even our house, wot's a mortgage - we can't afford it...

Some of the comments on this Forum (“I'm frightened to tell SWMBO how much the new steering wheel cost”) seem more appropriate to the Pink Smart Car Forum rather than one devoted to macho trucks.

Back to Land Rovers, guns and all things butch, the Defender is our runabout so the missus drives it more than I do, when I met her thirty years ago she was part of a Luxembourgish Autocross team and drove a hotted-up Kafer (as much as they can be lol), thinks she still does and yes, she's rolled a Defender in the High Street. As for guns, when we lived in dodgier places than the UK, her preferred 9mm was the P225 (single-stack magazine, easier to fit in the handbag but she was always leaving it at home), a CZ .635 (.25ACP in old money) in the purse. For myself, it was whatever was old, local and untraceable, I've had everything from S&W in the US, Taurus in the Caribbean, Makarov in Syria… I left shotguns to the minders, although one did have a marinised Mossberg (silver with a pistol grip) I rather admired...

Thankfully the future Mrs McD has been converted to a Defender lover.
She wasn't too keen on the 90 HT's that I've had and point blank refused at first to drive my USW but grew to love that.
Now I've got my 110 SW she adores it and pinches it every time she thinks she can get away with it.

She puts up with me talking about my days at work selling Land Rovers and then wanting to spend my weekends playing or going to LR shows. Even on our holiday to Turkey last year she wouldn't go on one excursion as they used different 4x4s and instead she hunted out a company that used old 110's. I think this is when I knew she was a keeper!

Really couldn't wish for a better Mrs. Just need to get her a 90 SW bought now!

Yesterday we celebrated our 32 anniversary💐
We finnaly got into Landy ownership 7 years ago and SHMBO has caught Roveritus as a result.
When the D2 broke its third timing chain it was her instance we stay in the breed and thus we own a Defender.
We bought it the day before our 30th anniversary.
As some know traditionally the the gift is a diamond for such an event which is why ours is a Diamond Edition.
She's a keeper, the wife too 😉

Well my wife or S.H.M.B.O Bow down .loves Land Rovers so much that I have had to buy her three 90's in the past.
We started with a second hand or pre owned as they call it now Range Rover classic that she took out for a test while the Montego was in for service back in the 1980's she forced me to sign the forms in the garage, a few years later wanted a 90 to go to work in, two years later wanted a better 90 then did the same thing 3 years later. She forced my to swap the Range Rover for a brand new Disco 1.
A couple of years ago she told me that both vehicle had to go and we should get a 110 so I did as I was told and it is now a fight to get the keys off her.

I wouldn't swap the land rover marque or my wife, I love one more than the other and they know that.

Oh and the safest place to be when she has a gun in her hand is in front of her. I have the paperwork from the police instructor to prove it. Rolling with laughter Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

I wooed my wife by allowing her to drive my Series III that I'd taken the roof off. We used my bright orange Stage 1 V8 as our wedding car and spent the first day of our honeymoon at a Land Rover Marque day at Gaydon. We even made it onto TV as a result - a programme called Pulling Power!

We've been on lots of Land Rover related adventures together over the years and she's on the third Land Rover of her own. She is also a keeper Cool Darren

Do any of you with awesome wives have a spare awesome daughter?
Somewhere in East Anglia, 20s, doesn't mind me tinkering with my Defender and wants to visit interesting places.
