Wiring for Voltmeter
Hello all,

I've acquired an OEM volt meter as part of a complete dash assembly and wondered where would be the best place to pick up a live feed for it. Does it need to go right back to the battery, or the alternator? The fuse box perhaps, or will it work with any handy +12v connection?

Ignition switched live, cigarette lighter feeds would do that.

You wouldn't want it permanently live otherwise it'd be on all the time drawing current, probably minimal but would drain the battery.

In that case, I'll connect it to a suitably fused ignition live.

Thumbs Up I expect during cranking you'll see voltage dip down as low as about 8v and then return to normal. Laughing

I took my ignition feed from the radio via a relay to get the voltage from the cigarette lighter feed. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Question

My Puma and the farm's 2005 TD5 both have ignition switched lighter sockets. Is the old TD5 different?
