Just to give a slightly different opinion to the norm...
I fitted gas struts to the rear doors of two or three of my previous Defenders but haven't bothered on the latest one primarily because I found having the door wanting to open itself a real hassle if I wanted to gain access to the back of the vehicle when I had a trailer hitched up. In certain conditions none of my trailers allow the door to swing open fully as the door will often foul the jockey wheel shaft or handle. Doors require more effort to shut properly especially if the strut is particularly strong, I also had occasions where I found while driving that the rear door had not latched properly which left me with the shivers when I consider what could have happened to whatever I had in the back, dogs included. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |
