Stiff choke cable
Anyone running a v8, do you have a problem pulling your choke cable? I just fitted the choke in the correct place on the steering column this afternoon because my old one didn't lock. You have to pull it with so much force that if you don't hold the steering column cowling it'd probably rip out. Is there any way I can fix this before I destroy another choke cable? 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

Disconnect the cable at the carburettor end and check it.
This will tell you if it's in the carby linkages or the cable.
If the cable feels all right lube and free up the carby linkages.
If its still tight check for tight angles in the way the cable is routed.
I also used to spray CRC/Penitrine into the cable to lube the inner. Cheers,
Kyle.

The cable is brand new, after removing the old cable and had a fiddle with the linkage and it seems like that is the problem. What should I use to lubricate the linkages? 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon
