The metal shroud is there for the sole purpose of making the ECU difficult to remove, in order to reduce (slightly) the ease with which thieves can relieve you of your vehicle.
I'm not really sure that advice on how to do this is something which it is sensible to post on a public forum (though no doubt the villains already have developed effective techniques). |

Fitted with shear bolts, the hex head breaks off at the predetermined torque to prevent [easy] removal.
You can normally 'drift' them around until loose with a centre punch and hammer, ![]() |
