2.4 ecu removal?
Morning chaps,

Any pointers on removing the ecu? It has a metal shroud over the connectors which I can't seem to get off?

Thanks in advance
Nick

Watching with interest, I need to take my 2.2 ECU out soon. I did a quick search on Youtube (I like my hand held Embarassed ) but couldn't seem to find anything. James

The metal shroud is there for the sole purpose of making the ECU difficult to remove, in order to reduce (slightly) the ease with which thieves can relieve you of your vehicle.

I'm not really sure that advice on how to do this is something which it is sensible to post on a public forum (though no doubt the villains already have developed effective techniques).

Guess I'll have to get the drill out then.

I'm sure Pete at BAS would give you a 'top tip' given some people send them to him for remapping.... Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

Fitted with shear bolts, the hex head breaks off at the predetermined torque to prevent [easy] removal.

You can normally 'drift' them around until loose with a centre punch and hammer, Thumbs Up Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.
