Does anyone else have it and why?
I mentioned somewhere else that i'd got this but no commented which rather surprised me. Does anyone else have it and if so why? Personally i'd have thought it most useful for those that rally? - thoughts please. |

I don't see how launch control would be properly incorporated into a defender? wouldn't it be a huge job for not really much benefit

Don't think so.
Clutch down, floor accelerator, revs hang at about 2000rpm then drop clutch ![]() Not exactly my style of driving but there you go. |

Doesn't the 'anti stall' system work in a similar way,
ie - in gear, foot break on, slowly ease the clutch till it starts to lower the engine tone, then let the break off and accelerate ... works for me when hill starting and towing ... maybe not the speed start that you are looking for but good for pulling away in different conditions ... so its not actually a launch control? isn't holding the revs with your right foot at 2000 depressing the clutch with your left the same thing? I have a car with a proper launch control it balances the throttle, traction control, transmission and even changes the dampers for optimum grip off the line... |

A launch controlled start in a powerful car is amazing. Amoungst other things, the electronics control the amount of wheelspin generated in order to produce the best standing start time......
What in godīs name has all that got to do with a Defender? ![]() ![]() ![]() Although the anti-stall does contirbute to the less than embarassing pull-away times from the traffic light. Another opportunity missed by JLR...... ![]() 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |
